Flood the System – Climate Justice Action

Flood the System was a climate action held in Melbourne on 10th December 2015. Activists occupied Collins St in Melbourne’s CBD, their bodies linking the headquarters of WESTPAC on one side and BHP Billiton on the other.

The action was designed to highlight the continued funding of destructive coal mines by some of Australia’s major banks, including WESTPAC.

The occupation lasted for about 4 hours, shutting down one of Melbourne’s busiest business areas, before police forcibly removed protesters.

No Frontiers Media shot, edited and released online various short videos of the action in almost real-time, while the action was taking place and directly afterwards. All much faster than mainstream media was able to.
