Sowing Seeds

Sowing Seeds takes place in the Werribee Park Community Garden, a healthy food oasis in the middle of Melbourne’s urban sprawl, run almost entirely by Burmese refugees.

The film features Evelyn, former a nurse in the Burmese Revolutionary Army who manages the garden day-to-day, Park Ranger James who supervises the program and Duchy, a young refugee with learning difficulties, who specialises in catching hungry rabbits.

Commissioned by NCDFREE the film highlights the lack of healthy food options in many modern cities and demonstrates a solution that addresses nutrition, builds community relationships and improves mental health.
