Wesly – Surviving Heart Disease in Haiti

Wesly loves playing football and riding a bike. A few years ago, he never thought he would do either again. A childhood infection left him with rheumatic heart disease and in need of a life-saving operation, which was impossible to perform in his native Haiti.

With the help of the Haiti Cardiac Alliance, Wesly was flown to the Cayman Islands. Today, he has new heart valves and renewed hope. Between his high school studies, he campaigns to improve infrastructure, and access to medicine and treatment for all Haitians with, or at risk of cardiac disorders.

His story is part of the Our Views Our Voices initiative of People Living with NCDs and the NCD Alliance.

This film was made for the NCD Alliance in October 2017.
